We began by reviewing the client hotels and deciding on a candidate for a pilot.  Doubletree by Hilton, in Bristol has long been held as one of our most progressive clients and, additionally, has a number of conference rooms.  After approaching the General Manager we agreed to run a one month trial, using a table-top water filtering machine from EauVation (a part of the Winterhalter Group), which can provide up to 80 litres of filtered water per hour, both still and sparkling.

The machine was plumbed into the water supply in the hotel kitchen and EauVation provided us with 200 flip top bottles to use for the trial.  We kept in close contact with the Operations Director at the hotel to ensure everything went smoothly.  At the end of the trial it was agreed that it had been a resounding success and that they would be happy to agree a 3 year contract.

It fell to NRJ to negotiate the terms of the contract and the price and, with the prospect of perhaps rolling this out across other hotels, we were able to agree a very good price and the supply of 216 bottles carrying the hotel’s logo.

The Financial Controller was able to confirm that the new deal would indeed make them a cost saving, not only on purchase of bottled water but also on recycling costs and on wastage.  The Operations Director was happy that the system worked well and that there was no additional work for his staff.  Overall, the General Manager was very pleased with the initiative in terms of cost, promotional material and environmental savings.

Over the coming weeks we intend to supply the Group’s CEO with the evidence of savings with a view to, hopefully, rolling out the same deal across the rest of his hotels.

I’m very excited to report that NRJ have been appointed as Client Manager for the building of a brand new, 56 bed hotel at Biggin Hill Airport.  Biggin Hill has long been the airport of choice for wealthy, business visitors to London but has, thus far, been unable to accommodate guests, staff and ground crew at the airport.  All that will change in July 2020 when we intend to open the new hotel.

The aim is to develop a “Hotel for Aviators” with High Quality, Exceptional Service, Contemporary Design and an Informal but Stylish ambiance as the core values.

This is a very exciting project with a very tight deadline for completion and NRJ have already been heavily involved in commissioning Project Managers, Planners, Designers, Architects and Building Contractors to make sure that everything will, be in place as soon as each phase of Planning Approval is achieved.

The Grohe Sensia Arena is no bog-standard facility.  This kind of technology has been widely available in Japan for some time but is now becoming more popular in high end establishments in the UK and Europe.

As you enter the W.C. the seat cover automatically lifts.  For those wishing to stand, the seat can also be raised at the push of a button on the remote control.  Once business is concluded the remote allows you to choose a strength and warmth of water to gently cleanse you before also drying you.

Once back on your feet, a push of a button, again remotely, flushes away the evidence, leaving the toilet as fresh and clean as you, without you ever having touched it (at least, not with your hands).

We reckon our clients will need to sit down when we tell them how good this is.

In Like Flint

Projects like this do not come without their challenges, not least that we found we were digging through flint shards bigger than a small dog, causing huge digging challenges and creating much more spoil than was originally anticipated.

NRJ have brought in some of the finest craftsmen and used only the best suppliers to source the materials but, because of our strong working relationship with many of these people, are still able to keep a tight rein on the budget and the timings.

Despite weather problems, work is due to finish mid-2019, delivering a stunning transformation.  Whilst the challenges of such a project are different from those of renovating a hotel, I think you will agree the results will be just as impressive.
